MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Bail was set at $250,000 for a 25-year-old man charged with killing his grandmother by beating her over the head with a chair at her home in Missoula.

Tyler Dan Perry made an initial appearance before Justice of the Peace Karen Orzech Monday on a charge of deliberate homicide. He is charged with beating 72-year-old Carol Perry on Saturday while she lay on the couch watching television.

Charging documents say Perry told a tow truck driver outside the residence to call the police because he had just killed his grandmother. Court records say Perry stated his grandmother had a "third eye" and added that "everybody knew we had to bash her over the head."

Perry had been living with his grandmother after moving to Missoula from Seattle last month.
