The Muslim Student Association and the Diversity Awareness Office at Montana State University will once again bring local awareness to hunger and help those less fortunate in the Gallatin Valley during the fourth annual Hunger for Change Fast-a-Thon, to be held Thursday, January 17 at MSU.

On January 17, members of the Bozeman community will voluntarily abstain from food and drink from dawn until sundown in an effort to remember those in poverty. At sundown, or about 5 p.m. in SUB Ballroom A, participants are invited to join in a meal to break their fast and view a presentation about the relevance of fasting in Islam and the issue of hunger in our community. Participants attending the community meal are encouraged to donate what they would have spent on food for the day, or a non-perishable food item for the local food bank.

The MSA will be collecting donations for the Gallatin Valley Food Bank from 11 am - 1 pm on January 14 - 16 at a table set up in the Strand Union Building Union Market. Participants and supporters of the Fast-a-Thon may also pick up an orange ribbon at the table to wear on January 17 to raise awareness about hunger.
