As AFI prepare for the release their new disc ‘Burials’ on Oct.22, the band recently shared the first single ‘I Hope You Suffer.’ Adding to the anticipation, the band has unveiled a lyric video to complement the song, check it out above.

The black and white clip features lyrics scrawled across a background of a wide sky with the sun setting as it slowly turns to night with a full moon against a starry sky, setting the perfect scene for the song.

‘I Hope You Suffer’ starts off slow and atmospheric as Davey Havok sings, “I got two letters from you / Last words of the runaway / Your love was written so true / And now I can’t speak your name.” The song slowly and methodically creeps into the chorus where Havok along with guitarist Jade Puget, bassist Hunter Burgan and drummer Adam Carlson kick the song into high gear.

‘I Hope You Suffer’ is now available for purchase at digital outlets and the band recently announced their plans to kick off a North American tour on Sept. 12 in Minneapolis, Minn. The trek will take them throughout the U.S. and wrap up in Canada on Nov. 2 with a stop in Vancouver, British Columbia. Check out all the dates below:
