Air Quality ‘Very Unhealthy’ in Bozeman
Bozeman’s air quality is “very unhealthy” today, according to the Montana Department of Environmental Quality.
“Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease such as asthma, should avoid all outdoor exertion; everyone else, especially children, should limit outdoor exertion,” the Montana DEQ explains on the website.
The smoke in the valley is mostly from Idaho and Washington, as well as increased activity on Montana fires, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department posted on its Facebook page.
According to the DEQ, an Air Quality Alert has been issued until 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 for Gallatin and other counties due to elevated particulate concentrations. Other counties include Beaverhead, Broadwater, Cascade, Deer Lodge, Fergus, Flathead, Glacier, Granite, Jefferson, Judith Basin, Lake, Lewis and Clark, Lincoln, Park, Pondera, Powell, Madison, Meagher, Mineral, Missoula, Ravalli, Sanders, Silver Bow and Teton.
