The race was tight and there's some more votes to be counted, but the Associated Press has called Jon Tester the winner of Montana's Senate seat.

Matt Rosendale held a slight lead heading into Wednesday morning, but votes yet to be counted in Missoula and Gallatin Counties helped to push Tester into the lead.

As of 11:40 a.m. local time on Wednesday, Tester had received 220,374 votes compared to Rosendale's 215,155 for a 49.1% to 48.0% lead.

The contest between the two candidates brought record amounts of political money for a Montana Senate race, and attracted waves of voters, some of whom waited hours to cast their vote.
