The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office has received a number of complaints from citizens regarding a scam that is occurring within Gallatin County.

The caller informs the person who answers that they have criminal charges pending and to send money for these charges to be dropped.

The scammer informs the person to call 646-396-9043 to arrange payment. Although no one has been physically threatened, these callers are intimidating, convincing and persistent.

According to Gallatin County Undersheriff Dan Springer, these calls likely originate outside of the U.S. and the callers in many cases have foreign accents. Springer indicates that multiple people from the Gallatin Valley have become victims of this scam and have filed reports with the Sheriff's office.
