UPDATE:

Superintendent Leland Stocker joined AM 1450 KMMS at 8:40 a.m. on Friday and confirmed that the threat is centered around Belgrade High School.

The threat was written in graffiti on a bathroom stall at the school, according to Belgrade Police.

Stocker indicated that the threat to the health and safety of staff and students was discovered on Thursday afternoon. He went on to say that officials didn't have an adequate amount of time to complete the investigation on Thursday, forcing the district to close all schools on Friday.

Stocker also conveyed that he is hoping to find out what the "perpetrator's" needs are as the investigation moves forward, stressing "we want to help" the person who made the threat.

The Belgrade School District has announced that all schools will be closed on Friday, April 6, due to a threat.

A notice from Superintendent Leland Stocker was posted to the district website, while both staff members and students were contacted regarding the closure late Thursday.

Stocker indicates that the district "will continue to investigate this threat and be in communication," adding "we need time to investigate the situation."

In a separate incident earlier this year, several students reported to Belgrade High School administrators that they had heard rumors about a child possibly bringing a gun to the school. Students were then told to shelter in place, but it was later determined that there was no credible threat to the campus.

This is a developing story.
