Big Sky Skier Killed In Utah Avalanche

The Associate Press reported that 38 year old Big Sky native, Matthew Jamie Pierre, was killed in an avalanche while snowboarding near the Gad Valley in Utah.

The professional skier was snowboarding at Snowbird Ski Resort when he triggered an avalanche. The ski resort is set to open for the season on November 19th. Jamie was a professional skier sponsored by the ski and snowboard company Lib-Tech. Our hearts go out the friends and family of Jamie. It’s extremely difficult to see someone’s life end so early on in this adventure.

Watch footage of Jamie Pierre dropping a 250+ foot cliff and landing on his head in which he skied away from in 2008
