Billie Joe Armstrong + Norah Jones Unveil Two New Songs From ‘Foreverly’ Album
As we previously reported, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is pursuing a passion project with acclaimed singer/songwriter Norah Jones. The two have bonded over their love of early rock era pioneers the Everly Brothers, and they're re-interpreting 12 songs on a disc called 'Foreverly.' Two of the album's tracks have surfaced ahead of the release.
The album, 'Foreverly,' reworks songs from the Everly Brothers' 1958 album 'Songs Our Daddy Taught Us,' which itself featured the Everly Brothers' take on traditional songs written and recorded by other artists.
A lyric video for 'Long Time Gone' has surfaced and the lyrics scrolling across the screen are set against the backdrop of a woman ridding herself of memories of her past love while packing up and leaving the residence they once shared. While the clip, seen above, was shot in present day, the set pieces and clothing appear to have a more dated look, mirroring the music that Armstrong and Jones are covering.
The other new song to surface from the 'Foreverly' album is titled 'Silver Haired Daddy of Mine' and it can be heard below. Like 'Long Time Gone,' its rooted in the sound that the Everly Brothers made popular.
"Man, what made (the Everly Brothers) want to make this record?," Armstrong told Rolling Stone when talking about the single. "It seemed so cryptic that these guys would be doing songs about death, being in jail and lost love. I liked the whole concept that this was something taught to them, and now it's being taught to me. I thought it would be cool to pass the tradition one more time."
The 'Foreverly' album is due in stores Nov. 25 and can be pre-ordered at this location.
