A man who pleaded guilty to raping a New Mexico teenager in 1997 has been accused of two sexual assaults in Montana.

The Santa Fe New Mexican says 41-year-old Toby Griego was arraigned Monday in Billings on 26 felony charges including rape, robbery and kidnapping.

The newspaper says Griego remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bond. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.

Griego allegedly broke into the homes of two women in May and July while they were asleep and their roommates were away.

Authorities say he allegedly bound, photographed, robbed and physically and sexually assaulting the women in their homes, cars, various bank parking lots and near a Billings canal.

Authorities say Griego was released from a New Mexico prison in 2008 and moved to Montana.
