Yellowstone Park hosts many migratory birds (nearly 300 species documented over the last 145 years), so it's a great place to observe and learn about all kinds of birds.

International Migratory Bird Day is this Saturday, so from 8a-12n, a bird-watching caravan will take you through the park, starting at the Madison Junction picnic area. The caravan is free, however you will have to pay the $30 entrance fee into the park.

Then, Saturday afternoon between 1 and 4pm, the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone will present programs on live raptors, and common birds of the area. There will also be crafts and activities for kids and adults, including games, making bird masks, and origami.

Any time you observe birds, do it from a distance. Getting too close to nests can cause birds stress and sometimes they will even abandon nests. Using bird or wildlife calls is illegal in the park, and you should also never feed the birds or other wildlife in the park. Take the #Yellowstone Pledge!
