According to a statement sent out by the band's publicist, Iommi has been diagnosed with "early stages" of lymphoma. The statement goes on to say that Iommi is currently working with doctors and is "determined to make a full and successful recovery."

Just two months ago the original lineup of Black Sabbath announced plans to record a new album with producer Rick Rubin. They had already begun working on the album in Los Angeles, but the diagnosis has caused a relocation to England. The band is also scheduled to kick off  a world tour later this year (May 18th in Moscow). No word yet whether Iommi's diagnosis will impact those plans. We'll keep ya posted!
