Bozeman’s R Bar To Open Its Doors After Downtown Explosion – Exclusive Pictures
Our DJ, Michelle Wolfe, was on the air when “the explosion” happened in downtown Bozeman on March 5th, 2009. It was 8:12am. Several buildings and businesses were destroyed and one life was lost, that of 36 year old Tara Reistad Bowman.
The R Bar, Lilly Lu children’s store, Montana Trails Gallery, The Pickle Barrel sandwich shop, Boodles restaurant, The American Legion and Starkey’s Deli were all destroyed or extensively damaged.
18 months after the explosion (on Veterans Day), the American Legion opened the doors of their entirely rebuilt building. Montana Trails Gallery moved to a location further on East Main street and Starkey’s Deli has since reopened in a retail space on the ground floor of the new parking garage.
The R Bar building, however, was a much larger task to rebuild and Michelle Wolfe got an inside look at what the next chapter looks like. In mid July, 2011 the new F & H Building at 211 East Main Street will open for business. Click inside to see the new future home of the the R Bar.
As details get confirmed as to when Opening Day will be for Bozeman’s beloved R Bar, you’ll find them here on mooseradio.com and on the air at 95-1 FM KMMS “The MOOSE”.
