The Breeders are planning to release a new album next year, having already teased us in October with the song “Wait in the Car.” This would be their first full-length record since 2008’s Mountain Battles, although an EP called Fate to Fatal arrived in 2009.

Frontwoman Kim Deal appeared on the latest episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, which was released this morning. Maron’s pre-interview remarks reveal that it will be with the original lineup, although it’s possible he means the Last Splash lineup of Deal, her twin sister Kelley on lead guitar, bassist Josephine Wiggs and drummer Jim MacPherson. That quartet has been back together since 2012. Only Kim and Wiggs remain from the sessions for the Breeders’ debut, Pod.

Deal actually didn’t give much information on the new record during the interview, which covers her entire career from her beginnings in Boston with the Pixies through today – other than to say that Steve Albini recorded drums on two of the songs.

It’s not known if “Wait in the Car” is going to be a part of this new album. Instead, it’s only available on three colored 7-inch vinyl discs with different songs on each of the b-sides. The first two, orange and yellow, have already been released. The third, a red vinyl with a cover of Michael Nesmith’s “Joanne” on the b-side, will come out at a future date. Pressings of all three singles are limited to 1,500 copies.

The Breeders will wrap up a two-week headlining tour of the U.S. tonight at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.
