Cabin Gulch Fire Near Townsend – 7/21 Update

The Cabin Gulch Fire is actively burning in the Deep Creek Canyon area east of Townsend. It is currently estimated to be between 50-100 acres in size, and is moving in the Northeast direction toward Cabin Gulch Timber Sale units.

There are multiple resources in full suppression mode, including air support from helicopters and SEATs. Highway 12 through Deep Creek Canyon has been closed. Please stay clear of the area while crews continue to respond.

Surrounding areas are being evacuated - any specific questions regarding evacuations can be directed to the Broadwater County Sherriff's office at 266-3441. Further updates will be made as information becomes available.
