As the year approaches its end, New Years' Resolutions are probably creeping up in the mind. Whether it's to eat healthier, exercise more, read more, watch less tv, everyone can use a little motivational help.

With Bridger Bowl and Moonlight Basin moving up opening dates due to record snowfall, area skiers and boarders are poised to hit the mountains. Big Sky opens today and has picked up another foot of new snow in the last 24 hours, giving the resort a 40" base at the bottom of the hill, and 70" at the summit
So in addition to the night on the town paid for by my friend Angel in Missoula due to the Bobcat win, I made several other bets on the Cat/Griz game. My friend, Andy Hintzpeter, who actually works across the street from our studios was talking smack on Facebook. So naturally I bet him too.
We tallied up all the new snow and it looks impressive. 20+ inches of dense snow in the mountains. There's a settled base of almost 30 inches which is mighty nice for this time of year. We've already heard of a few avalanches near Frazier Lake and Sacajawea Peak in the Bridgers, but these involved new snow. In other words, the slides are not breaking at the ground. So far so good. A solid base of hard snow bodes well for the winter. Chilly temps near zero are forecasted for the weekend, so we'll have to wait and see what changes that brings to the snow pack. Stay tuned...
