December 18, 2012 Reports are coming in that NBC's Richard Engel is now free from captivity after spending 5 days in the hands of an unknown group inside Syria. Engel was taken (along with several others) after crossing into Syria from Turkey.

Authorities have released the names of the victims of Friday's mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in which Adam Lanza, 20, reportedly killed 27 people, as well as himself. Lanza's rampage began when he shot and killed his mother, Nancy, at her home before he drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School and killed six adults and 20 children before taking his own life.

A shooting at the Clackamas Town Center, which is located near Portland, Ore., has left at least three people dead and one seriously wounded, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office. Officials say that one of the deceased was the gunman.
