I Adopted a Cat. Things I’ve Learned So Far…

For reasons that I'll explain at a later date, I adopted a cat two weeks ago. Cats are jerks. Furry, arrogant, emotionally indifferent, mildly vindictive jerks.

I’m Having A ‘Hands-Free’ Weekend Because I Think We All Need More Of Them

My wife and I are always very careful about being on our phones when our children are in our presence. Although we don't have any big plans for this weekend, we have decided to make it an entirely "hands-free" one. How will we survive?

Family of Five-Year-Old Battling Type 1 Diabetes Uses Facebook to Spread Knowledge and Save Lives

Facebook can be a positive, powerful tool. An innocent 5-yr-old girl in Salt Lake City is fighting for her life because Type 1 Diabetes was left undiagnosed for too long. Her family created a Facebook page to share her journey and educate others. A simple blood sample could have avoided all the agony this family is going through. I had to share this story as it hits close to home. My wife, fortunately, did not face such dangerous consequences when she was diagnosed at the age of 19, but had a scare after not being diagnosed immediately.

Simple Ways to Annoy a Toddler

I recently came across a funny list of '25 Ways To Annoy A Toddler.' A lot of them certainly apply to my 3-year-old, but I have more to add. Raising a toddler can be like hanging out with a pint-sized terrorist at times. Sometimes just the wrong facial expression can land you in hot water.

Baby #2 Is On The Way, Why Do I Feel Like I Did When Baby #1 Was On The Way?

My daughter is not quite three years old, and I swear to you I have no recollection of the 'newborn phase of care.' I was right there, the super hands-on dad, 100% invested in love and sacrifice, and I already forgot!

Taking In A Puppy Is Like Cooking Bacon, It’s Never A Bad Idea. Right?

Look at me. Don't I look happy bringing this new adorable puppy home for the first time? It looks like I don't even realize I have a 2-year-old human (with another one on the way in about two months), another dog, and a cat at home already. I'll post another picture of me in three months. Wish me luck?

Remembering Joe Cocker, And A Special Voice That Has Brought Me To Tears

It was an evening with my daughter when she was about 6 months old. It was just the two of us. I was feeding her dinner in her high chair. I chose Joe Cocker's I Can Stand a Little Rain on vinyl for this particular random occasion. I went right for the B side, knowing full well that track 2 might speak to me.
