UPDATE: STILL NOT FRIENDS WITH TOM JORDAN - This is going to come out wrong but I don't 'friend request' a lot of people. I don't have to because I have enough Facebook friends. Who the hell actually knows 1,300+ people? However, when someone I KNOW...someone I WORK WITH....someone I SHARE AN OFFICE WITH...someone who's FRIENDS WITH COMPETING RADIO STATIONS' staff members doesn't respond to a 'friend request' from me: I take stock and try to remember what I did to piss them off.

Microsoft Buys Skype for $8.5 Billion

Microsoft is set to shell out big bucks - a whopping $8.5 billion - to buy Skype Global, the NY Times is reporting.

According to the report, the deal will allow Microsoft to leverage Skype, which last year had 207 billion minutes of voice and video conversations, on platforms including Xbox 360, Kinect and Outlook.

"Skype is a phenomenal service that is loved by millions of people around the world. Together we will create the future of real-time communications so people can easily stay connected to family, friends, clients and colleagues anywhere in the world," Steven A. Ballmer, Microsoft's chief executive, said Tuesday in a statement.

One in Five Smart Phone Users Don’t Use Internet on Their Device

File this under "So why in the world did you buy one?"

A survey by Ipsos OTX of 5,013 adults has found that 19 percent of smart phone owners have never used their device to access the Internet.

Furthermore, 32 percent have never used an app, assuring that their smart phone Internet experience -- for which they are presumably paying a monthly charge for -- is extremely limited.
