NEAR PHILIPSBURG - New details have been released about a deadly skiing accident at Discovery Ski Area near Philipsburg.

The Missoula County Sheriff's office says James Adie, 21, died of blunt force trauma injuries after hitting a tree Tuesday while skiing at Discovery. Captain Rich Maricelli says Adie was transported to a Missoula hospital were he later died. Ciche Pitcher, vice president of Discovery, said that Adie worked as a ski instructor and had been employed by Discovery for almost five years.

Pitcher says the ski patrol will draw up a final report on the accident but says it's possible Adie lost control, causing him to crash into a group of trees. Adie was wearing a helmet. Pitcher says snow conditions on the run were normal at the time of the crash. The crash happened early Tuesday morning on the intermediate run Claim Jumper.

Adie was not teaching at the time of the crash.
