A 24-year-old man died at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas yesterday. According to the Las Vegas Sun, the fan collapsed in the parking lot yesterday morning and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The cause of death has not been disclosed. There have been almost 250 medical calls during the EDM music fest’s first day. Five of those fans have been hospitalized at the event so far.

Four years ago, more than 100 people were sent to the hospital for various reasons — ranging from injuries sustained at a gate-crashing to the usual drug and alcohol causes. A 15-year-old fan died that year due to an overdose. There have also been deaths in 2011 and 2012.

A spokesperson issued a statement to the Las Vegas Sun regarding this year’s death: ”We are deeply saddened by this news, and hope that everyone will join us in keeping his family and friends in their thoughts during this very difficult time. Dance music fans pride themselves in being part of a loving community and, as we get ready to start the second night of the show, we ask everyone to help us keep this event safe.”

Electric Daisy Carnival concludes tonight with sets by some of the genre’s leading DJs and artists.
