The Montana Highway Patrol says a woman in a five-vehicle crash has died near Great Falls as snow and ice created hazardous driving conditions across the state.

The Great Falls Tribune reports the unidentified woman died as a result of the crash just east of Manchester during Monday afternoon's snowstorm.

The highway patrol says the crash is under investigation and no other details are immediately available.

Temperatures across the state plunged and roadways iced over as a wintry storm swept across Montana on Monday.

The National Weather Service in Great Falls forecast temperatures as low as minus 20 in areas later this week and snow from 2 inches in southwestern Montana valleys to 2 feet in the mountains.
