Areas around Glendive, Montana are under a Flood Watch through Monday afternoon on the Yellowstone River due mostly to ice jams.

According to the National Weather Service:

FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON FOR A PORTION OF NORTHEAST MONTANA ALONG THE YELLOWSTONE RIVER, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS: DAWSON AND RICHLAND COUNTIES.

  • THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON
  • ICE IS BREAKING UP AND FLOWING ALONG THE YELLOWSTONE RIVER, CAUSING ICE JAMS.
  • ICE JAMS CAN BRING QUICKLY RISING WATER LEVELS.
  • A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS.
  • YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS.
  • THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
