Law enforcement relies heavily on our K9 "officers" and the of our most loyal is retiring according to the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office.

The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend its congratulations to Gallatin County K-9 Hondo, who is retiring.  Hondo, who originally came from the Netherlands, is eleven years old and has successfully served Gallatin County since 2006.

Like some of his other fellow local law enforcement K-9’s, Hondo was trained to perform several jobs.  He has located narcotics, tracked criminals, as well as finding and apprehending criminals hiding in buildings, wooded areas and other open areas.  Hondo has also helped protect his handler Deputy Lieurance, other officers in Gallatin County and the citizens of Gallatin County.

Hondo will be retiring to his home with Deputy Lieurance, where he can relax and reflect on all the adventures they’ve experienced together.
