Girls For A Change Conference, Last Chance To Register

Eighteen 8th to 12th grade girls with Girls for a Change (GFAC) are in the process of planning their annual conference “The World You Want-Respect, Adapt, Stand Up” for Montana girls, to be held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at Montana State University’s Student Union Building with keynote speaker Jane Olson.

“The World You Want-Respect, Adapt, Stand Up” conference will feature keynote speaker Jane Olson, international justice and human rights advocate. Jane recently retired from her position as Chair of the International Board of Human Rights Watch.

For the past 12 years Jane has served as Chair of the Survivors Network, formally known as Landmine Survivors Network. Jane has dedicated her life to advocating for human rights and has received numerous awards for her work.

The 2011 GFAC Conference “The World You Want-Respect, Adapt, Stand Up” will offer workshops on giving back to your world, understanding your world, protecting your world, expressing yourself in your world, and caring for yourself in your world. There will also be a series of women’s workshops, featuring a new format and expanded workshop topics.

The cost for girls to attend the conference is $20 (with limited scholarships available) and $150 (full day)/ $100 (1/2 day) for women. Conference registration includes the keynote luncheon with Jane Olson. Registration forms may be downloaded at www.allthrive.org or by calling 406.587.3840. Tickets for the keynote luncheon are available for $35 and may be purchased by calling Thrive at 406.587.3840.

GFAC is a grassroots initiative designed to empower girls to embrace their future—confident about their individuality, supported by friends, parents and mentors, and secure in their ability to lead and achieve self-sufficiency, fulfillment, balance and success.
