Livingston is no stranger to wind, but this forecast is on another level. Do not be surprised by detours or even closures if these conditions occur.

According to the National Weather Service:

 

  • THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BILLINGS HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 5 PM MST WEDNESDAY.
  • IMPACTS... DANGEROUS CROSSWINDS ALONG INTERSTATE 90 FROM LIVINGSTON TO SPRINGDALE... AND LOCAL ROADS NEAR NYE. POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO TREES AND POWER LINES.
  • TIMING... VERY STRONG WINDS WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY WEDNESDAY. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. WINDS WILL DECREASE BY EARLY WEDNESDAY EVENING.
  • WINDS... GUSTS OF 60 TO 70 MPH THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. GUSTS OF 70 TO 80 MPH OVERNIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING.
