Southwest Montana is under a High Wind Warning through Tuesday with extremely gusty winds up to 70mph expected, creating dangerous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service:

HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST TUESDAY...

WINDS... WEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 70 MPH.

TIMING... WINDS WILL INCREASE EARLY TODAY ALONG THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN FRONT... THEN SPREAD EAST AND SOUTH OVER THE PLAINS AND INTO THE SOUTHWEST VALLEYS.

WINDS WILL DECREASE THIS EVENING... BUT INCREASE ONCE AGAIN TUESDAY MORNING.

IMPACTS... STRONG WINDS WILL CAUSE DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS... ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE DRIVING HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.

MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE AND LOCALIZED POWER OUTAGES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. IN ADDITION... BLOWING SNOW MAY LIMIT VISIBILITY THROUGH MOUNTAIN PASSES.
