GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — State investigators say a man who was wanted for questioning in a weekend rape case shot himself in the head after leading law enforcement officers on a 30-minute chase near Great Falls.

Lewis and Clark County Coroner Mickey Nelson identified the victim as 49-year-old Timothy Arnold Miller, who lived in the Great Falls area.

Authorities said Miller fled after police and Cascade County deputies tried to apprehend him in northwest Great Falls on Sunday afternoon.

After Miller's pickup drove over spike strips it came to rest in the median. Investigators with the Department of Criminal Investigations tell the Great Falls Tribune (http://gftrib.com/1fBrQd9) the initial investigation indicates Miller then shot himself.

Nelson said Miller's body was taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for autopsy.
