Next Friday (Sept. 9) will see Jack White release the two-record Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998 – 2016. Today, he released another song from the collection, an acoustic mix of the Raconteurs’ “Carolina Drama,” which you can stream above.

The song originally appeared as the closing track on 2008’s Consolers of the Lonely, the second album by the group that matched White up with power pop singer Brendan Benson and the rhythm section of the Greenhomes. That record peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. This new version removes the electric guitar, which puts a greater emphasis on the on the mandolin and violin. The Raconteurs have been on hiatus since 2011, as its members focus on other projects.

In the press release accompanying the new song, Third Man Records revealed that White will promote the album with a spot on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Acoustic Recordings’ street date. His label is also releasing the record on limited-edition blue vinyl with black and white wisps. However, it will only be sold at Third Man Records’ stores in Nashville and Cass Corridor, Detroit. Those locations will also have brand new Jack White merchandise that will be first sold on Sept. 9.

Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998 – 2016 contains 26 songs from throughout his career. It includes well-known cuts by the White Stripes, like “Hotel Yorba” and “We’re Going to Be Friends,” and rarities, such as the b-side “Honey, We Can’t Afford to Look This Cheap” and alternate mixes of several other songs. You can listen to the previously unreleased “City Lights” here.
