Right around 7:00 p.m. last night, deputies and local response teams were dispatched to a residence at Frontage and Weaver Road west of Belgrade after a man called 9-1-1. He said he was armed and threatened to harm himself. The man was taken into custody without incident but police needed to close Frontage Road for about two hours while Sheriff's negotiators spoke with him. I can personally attest to that, I live right down the street and was attempting to return home at that time.

I left Music on Main last night just as the music started because I wanted to see my baby girl before she went to sleep. My wife and I have been putting her to bed right around 8:00 every night, so I had a nice grin on my face when I turned down Frontage Road at about 7:20 last night. That disappeared about two miles later when I ran into an officer who was misdirecting traffic.

I was not permitted to get anywhere near my house, which pretty much sits right on Frontage Road. After speaking with the officer, he advised me to inform my wife to remain inside for her own safety. When I was finally allowed through nearly two hours later, I quickly realized either none of my neighbors heard or took that advice. It looked like a big block party. It was a viewing party of sorts, apparently my neighbors were able to see the County Special Response Team with weapons drawn outside the man's house via binoculars.

In the end, I was happy to hear no one was hurt. The individual was taken into custody without incident and taken for evaluation. The case will be  investigated by the Sheriff's Office.
