Less Lawn. I’m Going To Grow Some Food

As I've stated before, I love gardening but I'm also a gardening idiot. Lucky for me my friends are experts. This year I have a lot of space to deal with and I now have to make a choice:

DO I MAKE MY LAWN PRISTINE OR SHOULD I SPEND MY TIME, MONEY AND EFFORT GROWING SOMETHING WE'LL USE FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN CROQUET?

I'm going to take the plunge and plant as many edibles on the property as possible. My buddies will gladly help out with advice (maybe even some labor) and hopefully we'll all be sharing in some edible bounty.
