It was 20 years ago when Live released their mega-selling 'Throwing Copper' album that yielded hits like 'I Alone' and 'Lightning Crashes,' but now it's a new day for Live, who have picked up their instruments and are continuing their career after a tumultuous split with longtime frontman Ed Kowalczyk.

When it came time to find a replacement, the band were in agreement that Chris Shinn was the guy.

Guitarist Chad Taylor says, "[We knew we needed] a veteran artist that brought a new dimension and musical skill and credibility to the table. The only name suggested by all three of us was Chris Shinn. There was no audition process. We simply called a friend and asked if he wanted to make Live music."

Shinn has played in multiple groups, but found his biggest success in the late '90s, early 2000s group Unified Theory, which also featured former members of Blind Melon and Pearl Jam.

With Shinn in place, Live set about making a new album. The disc is titled 'The Turn' and it's due Oct. 28 on Think Loud Recordings. The band co-produced the effort with Jerry Harrison, the producer who oversaw three of their biggest albums -- 'Mental Jewelry,' 'Throwing Copper' and 'The Distance to Here.'

The band just launched a PledgeMusic pre-order for the album, with a portion of the proceeds being directed to the Musicians on Call organization. At present, you can pre-order the disc with various bundle options including everything from posters and t-shirts to autographed items and even a Skype guitar lesson with Chad Taylor. Check out the PledgeMusic site here.
