Record high temperatures are possible today in southern Montana. We're also expecting very gusty winds at times creating dangerous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service:

Red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am this morning to
10 PM MDT this evening below 6000 feet... 

* impacts: low humidities... record warm temperatures... and gusty
  winds will create critical fire weather conditions favorable for
  rapid fire growth and erratic fire behavior.

* counties affected: 
  in central Mt... Golden Valley... Musselshell... Wheatland.
  In south central Mt... Big Horn... Carbon... park... Stillwater
                        Sweet Grass... Yellowstone.

* Wind: southwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Gusts to
 60 mph around Livingston and Nye.

* Humidity: in the teens.

* High temperatures: in the 70s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions... 

Check with local officials before doing any open burning. Be very
careful with any open flame as fire can spread through grass very
quickly at this time of the year.
