Local Juniper Art – From Field to Finished [Time Lapse]
Local artist Tom Benedict creates works of art from old, dead pieces of Juniper wood. The same kind of wood you've probably seen on your hikes a hundred times. Those graying stumps become something incredibly beautiful after some time in the hands of the Montana Wildwoods owner.
According to Montana Wildwoods:
Time lapse video of the selection and rough carving process of a twisted juniper core sculpture. The finished piece, "Dorsalis" can be seen at Homestead 89 gallery outside of Bozeman, MT.
All of the pieces that I collect are of already dead trees, many of which have been dead for decades.
Underneath the gray weathered exterior, juniper has a beautiful red & yellow grain.
