A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Yellowstone National Park with several inches of snow, wind and poor visibility expected at times.

According to the National Weather Service:

  • Snow will become widespread across the area later Saturday evening and continue into Sunday night before tapering off.
  • Snowfall amounts will vary from 2 to 8 inches with locally higher amounts in the southern mountains.
  • Back country travelers should be prepared for another round of snow, wind and falling temperatures.
  • Visibility will be severely restricted at times during periods of heavier snow and strong wind, especially in the higher elevations and exposed locations.
