On Friday morning the 'M', an iconic Bozeman symbol, received around four tons of new rock delivered by helicopter, according to MSU News. The 100-year-old landmark was closed throughout the morning for the work to take place.

Keeping with tradition, MSU is hosting "Rock'n the M," an annual event for students. The event, Saturday Sep. 19, will have 100 MSU student volunteers hike up to the "M." Once at the top, the student volunteers will repaint the "M," according to MSU News.

In 1915, it was MSU students that first constructed the "M."
