A select group of Neil Young fans were given an early glimpse of his next album, which is reportedly scheduled to arrive on June 16, at a secret show in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on April 16.

As previously reported, Young's been at work on a new set of songs with Willie Nelson's sons Lukas and Micah. The album, which may or may not be tentatively titled The Monsanto Years, delivers what Young quipped will offer "an upbeat review" of the titular agricultural giant's environmental record, which includes a line of widely criticized genetically modified seeds.

Consequence of Sound rounds up fan-shot footage from the show, held at the SLO Brewing Company in front of a crowd of roughly 450. Backed by the Nelsons as well as their bandmates in Promise of the Real, Young led the group through a set list that was predominated by newer material but still left room for older songs like "Down by the River" and "Country Home."

You can check out the evening's rendition of the rarely performed "Walk On," from 1974's On the Beach, above, as well as a shorter clip recorded during the concert below. Current plans call for Young and his new combo to begin a round of dates called the Rebel Content Tour on July 5.
