Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking public comment on a draft statewide fisheries management plan that will affect fishing in Montana for the next six years. Along with meetings throughout the state, Bozeman will be holding an information sharing session tonight. Details here:

This statewide fisheries management plan would establish goals and direction for fisheries management, habitat protection and improvement, fishing access and angling opportunities. Fisheries Bureau Chief Bruce Rich referred to the plan as a "road map" that will provide guidance to the public and decision makers for each of Montana's river drainages. He also added that a key component to a long-term plan is flexibility. The draft plan was recently presented to the FWP Commission and a final plan, based on public comment and an environmental analysis, is planned for release later this year.

Bozeman will be holding an information sharing session on Tuesday, September 18 from 6 pm - 8:30 pm at Region 3 Headquarters (1400 S. 19th Ave.).

Public comment is encouraged and can be submitted through October 12, 2012. To review and comment on the draft plan, visit FWP's website.
