Official details are still nearly nonexistent, but it's really starting to look like Queens of the Stone Age are putting out a new album this year.

Rumors of a new QotSA LP have run rampant for months, and the latest indication that there's new music on the horizon comes from the group's social media feeds — specifically their Instagram account, where they've posted a slew of recent photos making it clear they're up to something in the studio.

While they obviously aren't much to go on, these photos are just the latest in a series of rumblings from the Queens of the Stone Age camp that indicate fans can look forward to a new release this year. Frontman Josh Homme fueled the fire last summer, saying the same lineup that worked on the band's last LP, 2013's ...Like Clockwork, was "locked in" for another record.

More recently, Mastodon's Troy Sanders, who plays in the side project Gone Is Gone with Queens vet Troy Van Leeuwen, shared the news that Mastodon's upcoming Empire of Sand LP would be joined in 2017 with new efforts from Queens of the Stone Age and At the Drive-In. "We’ve all been extremely busy writing and recording," said Sanders, "and we’re about to get super-busy touring the world."
