Even though I am not a religious person, I came across a book written by a Pastor and Health expert that looks quite interesting. Rev. George McLaird's new book, A Guide for Spiritual Living offers hundreds of practical tips for finding peace and living healthy. I like that McLaird focuses on music's therapeutic ability, as I do believe in the power of music.

I want to make it clear that I have not read this book. Upon merely skimming through it, I found some of Rev. McLaird's principles for living a happier and healthier life compelling. A lot of the stuff made perfect sense to me. Particularly, McLaird's attention to the therapeutic power of music. He recommends utilizing this by:

  • Choosing a personal theme song to help you identify yourself
  • Listening to mood-altering music sacred to you on rough days
  • Practicing singing out loud, if only in the car or shower
  • Drumming to music to gain energy
