Ringo Starr Says Second Generation Reincarnation of the Beatles Won’t Happen

Three of the four sons of famous Beatles are willing to team up to honor their dads. James McCartney — son of Paul – had suggested the possibility earlier this year, adding that Sean Lennon and Dhani Harrison were fond of the idea.

“I don’t think it’s something that Zak (Starkey, son of Ringo Starr) wants to do,” McCartney said. “Maybe Jason (Strarr’s other drumming son) would want to do it.”

The oldest Starkey (Ringo’s real last name) says it isn’t going to happen. “Both my sons tell me they are not going to do it,” he tells WENN.com. It wasn’t clear if the baby-Beatles would play new music, or cover their famous father’s catalog. A combination of both seems likely, but now it seems fans may never know.

It seems possible that McCartney, Lennon and Harrison could move forward with the idea without Ringo’s sons, after all there is plenty of material to choose from after omitting Starr fronted songs like ‘Yellow Submarine’ and ‘With a LIttle Help From My Friends.’ There’s certainly precedent to be followed. Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham’s son Jason Bonham has led the Led Zeppelin Experience in recent years.
