It isn't often that you see a headliner covering songs by the opening act. But during his July 13 stop in Pittsburgh, Ryan Adams made an exception for Noel Gallagher.

Adams, who scored a Top 30 hit with a cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall" off his 2004 album Love Is Hell, was headlining the second in a pair of shows with Gallagher — and although Adams pulled his version of the song out of the set list in deference to Gallagher, he had a couple other cuts from their catalog up his sleeve. Rather than performing "Wonderwall" (which Gallagher played in his own set), Adams doubled down on his Oasis quotient for the evening, covering "Morning Glory" and "Supersonic."

Gallagher has expressed his fondness for Adams' version of "Wonderwall" in the past, singling it out for praise in a 2008 SPIN interview after being told his brother Liam hates singing the song. "Well, I hate him singing it, too," he quipped. "Liam doesn’t sound like he did ten years ago. Your voice and your body change. We’ve never got it right. It’s too slow or too fast. I think Ryan Adams is the only person who ever got that song right. I’d love to do the Ryan Adams version, but in front of 60,000 Oasis fans that wouldn’t be possible."

Adams' latest release, a full-album cover of Taylor Swift's 1989, debuted in the Top 10 upon arrival last fall. Gallagher, whose brother has repeatedly compared him to a potato in recent weeks, released Chasing Yesterday with his band High Flying Birds in February 2015.
