So far, we have heard rumors that two of the three planned 'Star Wars' spinoffs were to follow Boba Fett and Han Solo. Then there was the mysterious third spinoff, which we haven't much concrete information on. Until now. A recent report suggests that despite earlier reports that the spinoffs wouldn't follow any Jedi or Sith characters, Lucasfilm is currently working with artists and a writer to develop an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie.

The news comes from Making Star Wars, who have this to say:

Obi-Wan Kenobi – I’ve heard from quite a few people now that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in the works....I’m hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan...that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie.

The problem here is that Obi-Wan is dead so the films couldn't take place during the 'Star Wars: Episode 7' universe, nor really during the original trilogy. We saw a young Obi-Wan (played by Ewan McGregor) in Episodes I-III, so the only time period left to mine would be between 'Revenge of the Sith' and 'A New Hope' (and that would mean the return of Ewan McGregor). That's all well and good, but that would essentially make an Obi-Wan movie a sequel to 'Revenge of the Sith' and, as far as we've heard, that's when 'Star Wars Rebels' takes place. We don't think it would make much sense to develop both an animated TV series and a live-action movie in the same short window of time, but what do we know.

We do know that both Josh Trank ('Fantastic Four')' and Gareth Edwards ('Godzilla') have signed on to direct two of the 'Star Wars' spinoffs, we just don't know which ones yet.

Are there any other characters you'd like to see get their own movie before Obi-Wan (or Han Solo and Boba Fett for that matter)?
