Strum Me A Suggestion If You Would
I enjoy playing the guitar. I first picked up a guitar as a kid and have had an on again/off again relationship with it ever since. I started playing more regularly about two years ago after I got a new guitar and made that commitment. I'm not aspiring to be in a band I just love playing for me. It's the best therapy in the world.
I never took a guitar lesson until this past summer. I now have one guitar lesson to my name. I don't know if I didn't find the right teacher but I didn't go back because it didn't appear to me that I would've gotten much for my money. He asked me what sort of music I was interested in playing and by the end of the 30 minute lesson (which went by in like two seconds) he sent me off with the tablature for a song. Nowadays you can get the tablature for most songs online so I didn't see the point.
Everything I know on the guitar (chords, scales and songs) I've learned from others or online. Where do I go from here? I would like to learn some guitar theory and develop an ear. Would any guitar players out there recommend a local teacher here in the Gallatin Valley that could help me with that or do you have any good free online suggestions? Let's get the guitar playing community talking.
