Now that the busy Summer  wedding season has wrapped up, I will get some time to engage other creative ventures for awhile. It serves to refresh, enliven and inspire all the rest. If you are in a shoulder season as well-  I have a suggestion for you,  if I might. Give a hand to painting and not just any kind or type- how about plein air? It's the perfect time of year for such an adventure. I've been trying to get Aaron Schuerr, a wonderful Livingston local artist to start a weekly or biweekly class for those of us interested.  If you are, message me. :) Recently Aaron invited his friend Frank Serrano from California to co- teach a workshop in the Paradise Valley. I missed it due to the ramp up of wedding season this past June.  Aaron has impressed me with his work. It's been fun to watch his growth and progression as an artist for the past 12 years. I would certainly own a few of his works by now and most certainly will by the time this whole thing is over.  The same could be said for Frank Serrano. His plein air work is atmospheric and simply stunning- beautiful loose landscapes and cityscapes fill his days.  He almost daily posts some new piece he created that day sitting sea side, on a rock in the mountains or off to the side of a sidewalk in Montrose on facebook. His work inspires me to pick up my brushes again. My dad, now nearly 80, still mumbles questions to himself  about why Im not an artist to this day. ( I am, my work just doesn't hang on Gallery and Museum walls, it gets eaten and listened to, but the old dog will never understand that)  It's been a long hiatus, but buying Franks plein air video and working with Aaron are in my near future.  Time to break out the dusty brushes and enjoy filling my lungs and life with wild Montana skies and perhaps even farther afield until wedding season begins again.
