It turns out those rumors that Adele would be playing Michelle Obama's 50th birthday party next year were nothing more than that: rumors. A White House spokesperson has denied claims the British songbird and Super Bowl halftime star Beyonce had been lined up to perform at Obama's bash next January, blaming the whole fiasco on a British newspaper. “This is 100% false,” the spokesperson said, speaking directly of a report that appeared in NBC News. “It was fabricated by a British tabloid.”
