We've been dealing with hot, dry weather for the last couple weeks here in Montana, and as a result, many wildfires (one, we know for certain, was caused by fireworks). Some counties have banned fireworks this year, it has been strongly encouraged not to use fireworks in Bozeman. The Gallatin County Commission has issued a resolution declaring Gallatin County to have Stage One Fire Restrictions. This means you can not conduct any activities that may cause fires which includes Fireworks. During the 4th of July, this ban will be lifted unless conditions change. Below was the ban on open flames earlier today that was then revised to include fireworks as noted above.

I recently posted about my simple requests for a happy July 4th but forgot to mention the importantance of reflecting this time of year. This dawned on me last night while watching Saving Private Ryan. Every year sometime between Memorial Day and July 4th I like to watch a good American war flick. I know a movie could never truly give a guy like me, who has never officially served our country, an insight into what that's like but it helps me remember why I have the rights and freedoms I do.
