His momentous words of passion were integral to the African-American Civil Rights Movement. Here is an excerpt from the last speech he ever gave. He was assassinated the next day (April 4, 1968).

As we honor Dr. King’s memory, 44 years after his assassination, let us not forget his message. Here’s his famous “I Have A Dream” speech, delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963, in which he called for racial equality and an end to discrimination.
