Metallica's self-titled 1991 record, aka 'The Black Album,' is already the best-selling album of the SoundScan era, and now they're pulling away from the pack. 'Metallica' received its 16-times platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America in December, meaning (as you might guess) that it has surpassed 16 million in sales. The certification was one of 10 awarded to the band last month.
February 8, 2012 Metallica is putting together a two day festival, called the Orion Music and More Festival, which will be held June 23rd and 24th in Atlantic City. Metallica will headline both nights, the rest of the lineup will consist of some of their favorite bands. Check out some of the bands (a few may surprise you).

December 5, 2011 Apparently, Shakira has been a big Metallica fan since around the age of 15. She said she used to sing Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" all the time back then, and is now doing a performance of the song on her current tour. Check it out.
Critical reaction to ‘Lulu,’ Lou Reed‘s new collaborative album with Metallica has been tepid at best, as our roundup of quotes demonstrates. The media’s arrows are not nearly as sharp and dangerous as those flung by fans of the metal band however. In an interview with USA Today, Reed admits he’s not popular amongst the Metallica faithful.
