June is notorious for unpredictable weather in Montana and 2016 has been no exception. Shelf clouds? Tornadoes? Snow?

Montana lightning storms can be dangerous and beautiful at the same time. We love the efforts made by people to capture them in time lapse so we can share their work!

Abundant sunshine is in the forecast for this week, but Bozeman enjoyed LOTS of rain in the past couple of weeks making for greener pastures and hopefully a lighter fire season.

Wyoming was also hit hard by weather this last weekend. Fantastic footage was caught of a super cell storm forming.

We don't really know because none of us speak Hindi, but this Indian television station put together great footage from last week's snow and ice storms across the country. The Midwest and Atlantic states are bracing for more.

Craig Dugas captured this incredibly beautiful footage of storm clouds rolling into the Gallatin Valley on September 30th, 2013. Then, he compressed his footage into just 30 seconds of weather action. Thanks, Craig!

Most of Southwest Montana experienced a pretty good thunderstorm on Saturday including Bozeman. (I know it was pretty epic at my house. Thankfully I had a friend over so I didn't act like a scaredy-cat.) This quick video was taken on the MSU campus.

Lightning has wreaked havoc on southwest Montana's forests this year with fires still burning and smoke blanketing the valleys. This video silently captures the strange beauty of our 2012 lightning storms.

Waking up to a few inches of snow this morning was a surprise (since I flew back into town yesterday afternoon and immediately fell asleep on the couch) and we could see a few more.

The weather at Gallatin Field might be delightful, but that doesn't mean Southwest Montana travelers won't face travel difficulties as they return home for the holidays. A major east coast snow storm is causing a ripple-effect of travel woes across the country.
